Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) authorised officials, Sarajevo Regional Center conducted control activities focused on the illegal trade of goods through the Internet portal.
According to the information obtained through the open line ‘STOP SMUGGLING’, and after operational and tactical preparations, the control of the illegal sale of ski equipment was carried out by one natural person. On that occasion, it was established that the same was carrying out illegal trade in goods of foreign origin for which it did not have documentation on the origin, nor was it registered with the competent authorities for performing economic activities. In field activities, based on the Order of the BiH Court and on the basis of the directions and instructions of the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, a search was made of the premises used by the mentioned person, during which a large amount of ski equipment was found (skis, body armor, poles, bindings, helmets… ), for which it did not have documentation on origin. The value of temporarily confiscated goods is about BAM 75,000.
A Report on the committed criminal offense will be filed against the mentioned person in the upcoming period.
During the implementation of the aforementioned activities, ITA officials used knowledge and equipment donated within the framework of the UNODC-CCP and UNDP Program.
In the course of 2023, the activities of the ITA will be focused on detecting the illegal sale of various goods via the Internet, given the fact that this type of illegal trade in goods is becoming more and more prevalent in BiH as well.
