Goods worth BAM 1 000 000 seized in Tuzla
The Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) authorized officials, in the area of Tuzla regional center, in two separate actions, confiscated a large amount of textile products and mobile phones, the total market value estimated at BAM 1 000 000.
Based on earlier operational and tactical knowledge in the operational action codenamed PANTER, ITA authorised officers, regional center Tuzla carried out a detailed inspection and search of the cargo motor vehicle, all in accordance with the instructions of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the order of the Court of BiH.
In addition to the regular shipment, where various goods were declared for import customs clearance, hidden and smuggled goods were found, and it was a large amount of textile products earmarked for the Western European market.
Due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the criminal offense of Smuggling has been committed, from Article 214 of the Criminal Code of BiH, a Report on the committed criminal offense and the perpetrator will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the second operational action, based on available information about irregularities in the operations of a legal entity from Tešanj, a detailed check of the traffic and origin of the goods was carried out. On that occasion, a large quantity of goods of foreign origin was found for which there was no legal documentation (mobile phones iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12). Measures and actions prescribed by misdemeanor legislation have been taken against the perpetrators of the described illegalities.
The total value of temporarily seized goods is estimated at BAM 1 000 000.00.
When taking measures within their competence, the ITA authorized officials used specialized equipment, donated by the US Embassy in BiH, through the EXBS Program, as well as by UNDP/UNODC.
